PromptAI – Prompt Enhancer (the “Extension”) is a browser extension that helps users turn short or rough prompts into clear, structured instructions for AI models. This Privacy Policy explains what data we process, how we use it, and how we protect it.

2. Data we collect

PromptAI is designed to process as little personal data as possible. The Extension itself does not require you to create an account or provide any personally identifiable information.

We process the following categories of data:

Selected text / input text: When you use the extension, the text you select or type is sent to your configured backend API for the purpose of generating an improved prompt.
License key: The license key you provide is stored locally in the browser (via Chrome storage) and sent to our backend only to verify that your license is valid.
Backend URL and settings: The backend URL and any non-sensitive configuration you enter in the options page are stored locally in the browser.

We do not intentionally collect financial data, health information, authentication credentials, or other sensitive categories of data.

3. How we use your data

Your data is used only for the following purposes:

To send your selected/input text to the backend API so that it can generate an enhanced prompt.
To validate your license key and determine whether the extension should be fully enabled.
To operate and improve the reliability and security of the service.

We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or reselling to third parties.

4. Data storage & retention

In the browser: Your license key and backend URL are stored using the browser’s extension storage so the extension can function between sessions.
On the backend: Requests sent from the extension to our backend may be logged for debugging and security (for example, timestamp, status code, and error messages). We aim to minimize or avoid storing full prompt contents in logs unless strictly necessary for debugging.

We retain logs only as long as necessary for debugging, security, and service quality.

5. Sharing your data

We do not sell or rent your data. We may share limited data only in these cases:

With infrastructure providers (e.g., hosting services) that help operate the backend.
If required by law, regulation, or a valid legal process.
To investigate abuse, security incidents, or misuse of the service.

6. Browser permissions and why we need them

activeTab & scripting: Used to read the user’s selected text on the current page and replace it with the enhanced prompt when they click the extension button.
storage: Used to store the user’s license key and backend URL in the browser so the extension can function without repeatedly asking for them.
Host permissions (e.g., <all_urls> or specific domains): Used to run the content script on the pages where you want to enhance text.

7. Security

We use HTTPS for communication between the extension and the backend where supported.
License keys are validated server-side and not exposed to other websites.
We make reasonable efforts to avoid storing raw prompt content in long-term logs.

8. Your choices & control

You can disable or uninstall the extension at any time from your browser’s extension settings.
You can clear the stored license key and backend URL by removing the extension or clearing extension storage.

9. Children’s privacy

PromptAI is intended for adults and is not directed toward children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

10. Changes to this Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Your continued use of the Extension after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated Policy.

Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

By installing or using PromptAI – Prompt Enhancer (the “Extension”), you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please uninstall and do not use the Extension.

2. License

You are granted a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the Extension for your own purposes, subject to these Terms and any license key restrictions configured by the developer.

3. Fair Use

You agree not to:

Use the Extension to violate any law, regulation, or terms of the websites you visit.
Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to bypass licensing or usage limits.
Use the Extension to generate harmful, abusive, or illegal content.

4. No Guarantee of Output

The enhanced prompts and any downstream AI outputs are generated automatically. We do not guarantee their accuracy, safety, or suitability for any particular purpose. You are responsible for reviewing and verifying all AI-generated content before using it.

5. Third-Party Services

The Extension may connect to external AI providers (such as OpenAI or others) via your backend. Your use of those services is subject to their own terms and policies.

6. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Extension is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including but not limited to merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

7. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, profits, or revenue, arising from your use of the Extension.

8. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to the Extension (for example, by revoking license keys) if you violate these Terms or misuse the service.

9. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction where the developer is based, without regard to conflict of law principles.
